The Pig

Wednesday 27 April, 2016

The Leyland P76 was affectionately referred to as "The Pig". What a car! It inspired delight and hatred in equal quantities.

Similarly, we have acquired an ugly quirky vehicle called the "SsangYong Musso" which I think roughly translates as "Unreliable Piece of Shit". Having said that - when it works it's a treat, and maybe now that we have replaced every conceivable system, it may give us years of trouble free motoring <laughs and then cries>.

I'm certainly not giving up on it - I love my butt ugly dog Jess (known in our house as the hair covered poo), and I love my Musso. I took 67 pictures of it to find the right angle and lighting that wouldn't make me want to throw up. Here it is in all it's glory...

Candles in the wind

Saturday 16 Apr, 2016

It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
Eleanor Roosevelt

What to do on school holidays when you find a bunch of random things in your cupboard?

Assemble ingredients...
Melt in an old saucepan...
Looks and smells yummy...but don't drink it!
Mason jars, wicks and those annoying rubbish bag tie thingies...
Pour and wait...
Light and enjoy the sight and smell (Honey Eucalyptus)

Bounders escape with stolen grass

Monday 11 Apr, 2016

“Un-winged and naked, sorrow surrenders its crown to a throne called grace.”
Aberjhani, The River of Winged Dreams

Happy birthday to Jill and Jackson for the 2nd. Jackson can be found around the 1:20 mark here. Nice boy, takes after his mum!

Years ago I painted - then somehow forgot how. With the inspiration of the Mountain River views, here's hoping action will follow. Kym always calls the mountain "The Iconic Sleeping Beauty Ranges" (yes, with implied capitalisation!) so I've taken to calling it "The Ironic Stinking Beauty Ranges". Time will tell who wins that one. Kym says that one shouldn't always approach conversations with the aim to win. What a concept, but I don't think it's going to catch on in our sphere of influence (long gone is the sphere of concern).

In lieu of a painting, here's a snap of three local bounders making their way up the hill after stealing grass. Either the picture has been a victim of post-production (please don't say "photoshopped", as the GIMP is a free and better alternative), or that is one crappy camera.

Take good care of your loved ones...
