A little slow, a little snow

I have a sequence to my creative life. In spring and autumn, I am above ground and commit to community. In the summer, I'm outside. It is a time for family. And in the winter, I am underground. Home.

A little lag between blogs, and for that we have a reason but not an excuse! Firstly there's the natural slowing down as winter solstice rocks around again. We tend to hibernate a bit and generally try to make the most of the 8 hours of watery sunshine that strains to appear through the deepening clouds. We have had a smattering of snow in the last few weeks, but overnight we had a much bigger dump and the drawn drapes this morning revealed quite a picture...
A sleeping beauty indeed
Also we have been duty bound to bound after three bounders as they lurch from crisis to crisis. Two have just moved on to the next lot of carers and one will remain with us for a few days more. We will get some of our life back in order to fix up the house after the Tasmanian Devils have trashed it, plus the garden is looking most forlorn! Soon we will be able to sleep the sleep of the just and recharge - what an interesting three months and certainly the story bin will be full for a few years to come.

We are daily thanking Summer Man who spent hours splitting, packing and drying wood for the darker months - we now have a warm and toasty house from morn 'til night - lovely! Sleeping by the fire is our 35.2 kg behemoth "Smelly Kelly with the Big Fat Belly" (Kelly for short) who is on anti-inflammatory medication after having delaminated her sternum muscles coming a cropper at the beach last week.

Peacefully draining the bank account
Kids and dogs! What a great combination for lowering the energy and money levels! Bonne santé...
