Lining the Dream

My soul is in the sky.
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act V. Scene I.

Sometimes when chopping wood, teaching mathematics and feeding sheep is just too mundane I take flight in my 787 Dreamliner and fly my regular route from Melbourne (Tullamarine, YMML) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith, YSSY).

Then, for the hell of it, I fly back..

P.S. The Dreamliner is not real...but the dream is...

Dark Mofo Midwinter Feast

“And when you crush an apple with your teeth, say to it in your heart:

Your seeds shall live in my body,
And the buds of your tomorrow shall blossom in my heart,
And your fragrance shall be my breath,
And together we shall rejoice through all the seasons.”
Kahlil Gibran

All the peeps be eat'n up large...
We visited Dark Mofo's Midwinter Feast last night, where thousands of people gathered for some music and communal eating and drinking beside wood braziers and along large tables.  The atmosphere was very relaxed and convivial, the food excellent and the spiced wine particularly warming.  There was some art happening about the place as well, but to be honest my snout was in the trough a little to long to appreciate it.  Maybe next year!

Time waits for no-one...

OK so after lots of feedback (thanks y'all), I have reverted to the traditional blog format whereby the latest blog entry is first on the list.  I don't like it from a chronological perspective, but who am I to argue with the thousands of peeps who inhabit the blogosphere (well, actually about 3 people that complained...er, suggested changes...).

This weekend (thanks Queenie for having another birthday), we are slowly unpacking and sorting our stuff.  I have finished the reporting season - always mad and somewhat amusing from the perspective of a trained proofreader.

It seems that Fischer, Tal and Karpov have returned from their overseas chess tournament.  Not surprisingly they have no prize money to show for their work.  Here they are feeding this morning:

<sigh> So maybe we hang onto them for a bit longer (like the stupid Musso that was in the shop again this week with electrical gremlins).

On a more positive note, we saw snow today both on the hills and also in the air.  Such a lovely outlook.

The hills are alive with the sound of snow falling...
Y'all take care and don't be afraid to hit the comment button!

Weather vs Climate (no clear winner yet...)

Tuesday 7 June, 2016

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Dolly Parton

It was a nice little jaunt to WA on the weekend to celebrate engagements, catch up with tonnes of mates and generally eat drink and be merry until the stupor arrives.

What a funny old fellow is Humphrey...
Then things got a little out of hand as "Stormageddon" was unleashed on the East coast.  Not a nice thing to fly into, causing delays that resulted in a 1am drive through torrential rain to get home.  Dogs are freaked, cats are freaked, humans are freaked and sheep are AWOL.

The river keeps rising and already in Tasmania the damage has been extensive.  Here's a pic of our little stream...

Smart move stopping on the bridge like that...
Stay safe and dry if you can, and if you get attacked by a climate change denier a good strategy is to have a bottle of water handy to spray them with...
